Wheels, Tires, Undercarriage, and Glass Coverage explained

What is Deductible/Excess? With zero excess your liability is protected by the rental car provider in case of damages and theft, with the exception of wheels/ tires/ glass /mirror & undercarriage. It is standard practice for the vast majority of car rental companies not to extend cover to include these parts due to car rental companies considering this type of damage as negligence by the renter, hence Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) does not cover these parts. By purchasing our additional coverage, CarRentalNet will provide protection for damages to wheels, rims, tires, undercarriage, windshield, back/ side windows/windscreen, and mirror glass. The rental car provider may withhold the estimated charge as an additional deposit along with the rental cost against your credit card until the vehicle is returned. In the unfortunate event that any of this type of damage to wheels, rims, tires, undercarriage, windshield, back/ side windows/windscreen, and mirror glass happens, which is not covered by the rental car provider, you will be charged with the appropriate amount corresponding to the damage. CarRentalNet will refund you these charges.

Will I need to pay a deposit to the rental company if I purchase your Wheels, Tires, Undercarriage, and Glass Coverage?

Yes, when collecting the rental car the main driver still needs to leave a deposit, as the Wheels, Tires, Undercarriage, and Glass Coverage is offered from CarRentalNet. The car rental company will follow the common rental procedure.

Will I need to pay any amount to the car rental company?

Yes, in the unfortunate event of damage, the driver will pay the damages to the rental company. After the end of the rental period, you can claim a refund of this amount from CarRentalNet.

Will I be offered additional insurance to cover those parts by the rental company?

Yes, when collecting the car the agent of the car rental company will always offer you extra optional insurance. You can evaluate the options provided and decide if you wish to add any optional coverage locally. By purchasing Wheels, Tires, Undercarriage, and Glass Coverage from CarRentalNet, you are fully covered as described above.

What is not covered by the Theft & Damage Excess Protection?

Our Theft & Damage Excess Protection service covers the Excess/Deductible* charged from the car rental company, except for its exclusions. The common exclusions are illegal drinking and driving, gross negligence for example fuel error, incorrect use of the handbrake, mechanical damages (clutch, gearbox, etc.), driving off-road or on unsealed roads, damages to lights, keys, and lock/door handle, antenna, damage or loss of plates, towing charges and any damages caused during the towing away, loss of personal belongings, the interior of the car, non-authorized driver, administration, engineer and immobilization fee paid to the car rental provider.

The car rental company might charge the full damage cost, in case of damages due to vandalism, weather or natural disasters (such as hail damage), or caused while not following the terms of the rental agreement, violation of local laws, or traffic rules. The Theft & Damage Excess Protection becomes invalid in those cases and no refund can be done. The car rental company might also charge the full damage cost, for not contacting the police (when required by the rental company or mentioned on the rental agreement). The Theft & Damage Excess Protection becomes invalid in those cases and no refund can be done. The Theft and Damage Excess Protection covers one incident/accident per rental.

What is the procedure to claim the excess amount from CarRentalNet?

All claims must be reported by e-mail to CarRentalNet within 90 days of the rental ending. After 90 days of the rental end date on the voucher, the CarRentalNet Damage and Theft Excess Protection becomes invalid.

It is very important to have as much information/documents as possible. Make pictures of the damage; note the date and the address/street name where the damage/accident happened. The rental company may require a police report, even if no other cars have been involved, always contact the rental station and follow the instructions. In the event of an accident involving a third party, it is very important to contact the local police and obtain an incident report/police report, in such cases, always contact the rental station and follow the instructions. In rare cases, third-party claims might take up to 36 months to resolve. A friendly report is not always sufficient, contact the rental station and follow the instructions.
